Course Content: This Foundation degree is intended for those who wish to develop skills in management with a business accounting emphasis. AAT students who have already achieved NVQ level 4, AAT Accounting Technician qualification, who do not wish to continue on the accounting route may pursue this programme which will develop their general management skills, which in turn will allow them to progress onto degrees at Manchester Metropolitan University (MMU).
· Year 1 will be awarded as an Achievement of Prior Learning (APL) for NVQ 4 AAT Accounting Technician as well as managers with significant financial and project management experience.
· Year 2 will consist of; Professional and Personal Development; Managing People; Operations Management and Decision-making.
· Year 3 will consist of; Marketing Concepts and Planning; Ideas, Creativity and Entrepreneurship.
· Progression on to Year 4 will be available at MMU and will comprise of a final dissertation.
Course Format: Assessment will be based on a number of the following; a written project proposal, a project report, submission of a learning log, written examinations, various assignments and a poster exhibition.
Progression: Upon completion of the Foundation Degree, successful candidates will be able to;
· Develop an effective platform of knowledge and the ability to practice skills in management disciplines, especially HRM
· Generate, apply, evaluate and communicate financial data
· Appreciate the importance of marketing as a key discipline
· Use the knowledge and skill gained to inform management decision making appropriately and effectively
