The Programme Content
The course modules are constructed around the main scientific disciplines which underpin sports performance and health maintenance, as well as providing an insight into historical and organisational perspectives. You will be required to undertake a substantial work placement project in an aspect of the industry of your choice, and as a result of this and other industry related tasks, you will come into contact with and work with local employers.
Modules include Human Performance in Sports, Sports Coaching, Health and Fitness Principles, Weight Management, Current Health Issues, Exercise Prescription, Health and Activity for Young People, Psychology of Health, and Special Populations.
Module Descriptions
The Human Performance in Sports and Health and Fitness Principles modules provide the fundamental scientific knowledge required in order to understand how sports performance and fitness improvements can be achieved.
The Sports Coaching, Exercise Prescription and Special Populations modules enable you to work with clients in order to formulate suitable activity programmes and organise activity sessions.
The Weight Management, Current Health Issues and Health Promotion modules are concerned with understanding the prevailing health status of the nation and of the region, and developing strategies to prevent or assuage some of the most common conditions.
