Semester 3: Research Project; Quality Management and Customer Service; Work Experience; Marketing and Consumer Behaviour; Contemporary issues in Hospitality, Travel and Tourism.
Semester 4: Special Events, Conferences and Meetings; Revenue Management; Managing in the Service Sector; Tour Operating.
Optional units: Aviation Management or Cruise Operations

Awarding body/institution: University of Portsmouth
The awarding body for the Foundation Degree is the University of Portsmouth and Highbury College is the provider of the course of study.
Teaching: You will learn through a mix of lectures, practical sessions, group work, work-related activities and independent study and research.
Independent study: You will need to undertake significant independent study outside of taught sessions. For every 1 taught hour students should spend at least 1.5 hours studying independently away from College, equating to at least 24 hours per week in Year 1 and 18 hours per week in Year 2. The exception to this is the Investigative Study unit in Year 2 where students are expected to spend 4 hours of independent study for every 1 taught hour.
Achievement: The Foundation Degree is achieved by passing all units (240 credits).
Assessment methods: Assessment is on a continuous basis with up to two assignments in each unit. Assessment is mainly via coursework which takes a variety of forms including written reports, presentations, and written reflections. There is a timed exam in one unit.
Staff: Full-time, part-time and associate lecturers (corporate associates) may teach on the Foundation Degree programme. Staff teaching on the programme have a variety of commercial/industrial and/or teaching experience.
