This one-year, part-time but intensive course (one full day a week for 27 weeks plus Induction and tutorials) is designed to extend your skills in acting and its core disciplines. Working individually, in small groups and as a large group, you will work towards gaining a Level 2 Extended Certificate in Performing Arts awarded by Open College Network London.

About this course

• Demonstrate a clearer understanding of acting methodology
• Employ the disciplines and techniques central to effective realisation
• Exhibit correct breathing techniques and vocal resonance and clarity
• Interpret text, working in a collaborative way with others
• Work from the neutral body to create character and use space effectively.

You will be required to wear loose black clothing for all sessions. You will also need to purchase or borrow from the library the five principal text books and have notepaper and pen. The examination/accreditation cost is included in the fee.

Course programme

The course will cover the three main aspects of fundamental drama training: Acting, Voice and Movement skills.

You will be taught by qualified tutors with vocational experience. Some homework will be required. Regular attendance and punctuality is essential as a discipline of the professional theatre. Some work will be filmed as part of our assessment, verification and moderation processes. Please note that filming/recording of you is an essential part of this course and recordings will be shared with OCN the accreditation board for this course. Your personal data will be used in accordance with our privacy policy and recordings will be held by the college for verification purposes until six months after the course has finished. By enrolling on the course you consent to this. HEALTH CHECK You may or may not be asked to participate in rigorous activity from time to time. Please consider whether you could do this, if you are in any doubt consult a medical practitioner.

Additional information

This course prepares students for the the Access to HE Drama Diploma (one-year Level 3 course). You may also be interested in non-accredited advanced courses in any of the three disciplines, or in related disciplines such as screen acting, radio and TV presenting, dance, singing, or other performing arts.
