This Foundation Level Certificate is designed to provide individuals with the knowledge, skills and confidence to prepare food safely and in accordance with the requirements of the Food Hygiene standards. Suitable for: This course is aimed at those involved in preparing food requiring cooking and chilling. It is applicable to any individual or working environment. Though can be tailored to suit a particular audience if required.

Course content:
The programme comprises 5 modules:
Module 1 Introduction; legislation; control of pests; foreign matter and chemicals
Module 2 Non microbial contamination; control of pests; foreign matter and chemicals
Module 3 Microbial contamination; simple microbiology; food spoilage; temperature control; shelf-life; food infection; food poisoning
Module 4 Cross contamination; cleaning and disinfection; personal hygiene
Module 5 Use HACCP principles to relate food hygiene to your own workplace
Delivery:
This is an interactive course designed to blend practical activities with background knowledge, ensuring that individuals are adequately trained in an informative yet enjoyable environment. Students are examined on aspects of theory and practical on the final afternoon of the course. Upon successful completion a certificate is issued which is valid for one year.
Awarding Body: There are two routes to qualification, one is through the Society of Food Hygiene and Technology, or the Scheme is available with an accredited examination option with the Royal Society for the Promotion of Health (RSPH), leading to a joint RSPH/SOFHT (QCA accredited) Foundation Certificate in Food Hygiene.
Location: This training is available at a variety of locations throughout Gloucestershire, including at our fully equipped training room in Quedgeley. Training may also be delivered within your workplace if the numbers and location are appropriate.
Courses are run throught the year.
