Course Overview
The course has been designed for candidates who are seeking or receiving training at Entry Level in a vocationally-related area. It will appeal to a broad range of candidates of all age groups who may have physical, mental or learning difficulties in schools, colleges and training centres. The objectives of the course clearly seek to provide access to training and education for such groups. It follows that barriers to entering the qualification should be minimised.

Who The Course is for
This course is aimed at students of all ages who seek an Entry Level programme that will:
- Develop personal and inter-personal skills to enable the candidate to enhance their quality of life and behaviour within socially accepted norms
- Develop an awareness of the need to operate safely in a particular environment
- Provide opportunities for experiential learning
- Provide a basic understanding of industrial practice through performing routine tasks
- Provide motivation, recognition of progress and achievement through a programme of structured assessment
- Develop mental and physical co-ordination, dexterity, mobility and build confidence
- Provide progression opportunities into further learning, training and preparation for employment
- Assess candidates in personal and work-related skills which will assist in opportunities for employment.
Course Content
Courses offered in:
Catering and IT.
The qualification has 3 levels of certification; Award, Certification and Diploma. Each level requires the student to achieve a number of credits through building a portfolio of evidence covering a variety of topics through selected units.
The aim of this qualification is to porvide candidates with a complete package, including personal and social development.
These are delivered over the year for approx 12 hours per week in small class sizes with support as identified.

Entry RequirementsLearning & Assessment Methods
Students will be assessed throughout the duration of the course. Assessments are designed clearly so the learner can demonstrate the level of skill and understanding required for each unit. Multiple assessment opportunities are indicated against each skill giving the candidate opportunity to record gradual improvement and revisit areas of weakness. There is no limit to the number of attempts that a candidate may take to achieve the qualification. Once the required level of competence has been demonstrated by the candidate there is no need to carry out additional assessments on that specific element of skill.
Qualifications Gained
Achievement at Entry 2 reflects the ability to use knowledge or understanding to carry out simple, familiar activities. Candidates will know the steps needed to complete simple activities. Candidates will carry out simple, familiar tasks and activities and follow instructions to use rehearsed steps to complete tasks and activities. Candidates will, with appropriate guidance, begin to take some responsibility for the outcome of simple activities and actively participate in simple and familiar activities.

Progression Opportunities
There are several ways in which candidates are able to progress which would equally apply:
-- a candidate could progress incrementally from Entry 2 to Entry 3
- a candidate could make progress at the same level, but continue to practice the activity by repetition thereby increasing the range of circumstances in which the activities can be carried out.
