This course allows you to study an art and design degree, even if you haven't got the right qualifications. You'll develop skills and familiarise yourself with our facilities, preparing for more specialised studies.
This must include at least 32 points from at least one A level or equivalent BTEC National qualifications (to include a relevant subject, such as Art, Design, Design Technology, Textiles and Graphics). For example:CDD at A Level with a grade C in a relevant subject.MMP in BTEC Extended Diploma in a relevant subject.A combination of qualifications which must include an A level grade C or BTEC grade M in a relevant subject and may include AS levels, EPQ and general studies

How you learn
This course is part of the Sheffield Institute of Arts — our creative community within Sheffield Hallam.In this one-year course, you'll be introduced to art and design disciplines — helping you to decide which area you want to specialise in. A multidisciplinary approach is embedded in the course, providing a broad understanding of creative careers and fields, as well as a chance to explore different processes, techniques and media.Throughout, you're encouraged to push the boundaries of what you already know through challenging design briefs.
