This enjoyable course is for beginners who would like to experience and explore the major ways of making pottery –throwing, pinching, coiling, and slab building. Pots will be decorated, glazed and fired during the course. About this course
Make simple forms using the techniques of:
- Pinching
- Coiling
- Slab building
- Throwing
- Decorate the forms with coloured slips
- Glaze your work using department glazes.
There is a charge of £2.00 per 500g for clay before firing, the porcelain charge is £17.50 per bag/ £8.75 per half bag.

Course programme
The aim of this course is to introduce basic pottery techniques. You will learn to make pinch and coiled forms, slab
built forms and simple thrown forms. You will be shown simple surface decoration techniques and apply them to the
forms you make. Work will be glazed and fired. A slide talk will be given on contemporary ceramics.
