Discuss how Shakespeare’s style and technique contribute to the meaning and impact of the plays.
Appreciate the breadth and depth of Shakespeare’s powers of characterisation.
You will be provided with edited texts of the plays to be studied.It is recommended that you obtain copies of the plays but this is not mandatory. Bring a pen and paper.

Course programme
We shall read and discuss carefully edited extracts from each of the plays in turn, considering their poetry and theatricality, and reflecting on their significance to us today. At the heart of our study will be a growing appreciation of Shakespeare’s great skill in dramatising human folly and enabling us to reflect purposefully on its meaning.
