What I would highlight: Fairly extensive course with a good balance between historical background, policy and finance related topics with regards to Climate and Renewable Energy.
What could be improved: 1. Introducing some mandatory deadlines (e.g. passing certain units, etc.) earlier in the term could be beneficial. 2. I would like to have seen a little bit more hands on financial modelling and possibly a bit less theory on policy, etc.

Certified Expert in Financial Inclusion Policy

What I would highlight: SUMMARY: The Certified Expert in Financial Inclusion Policy -CEFI- is the second online program I do with Frankfurt School of Finance & Management (the first was the Certified Expert Microfinance -CEMF- back in 2014). Like CEMF, CEFI has been a magnificent journey around the most avant-garde topics of Financial Inclusion. I must mention that it has not only nurtured me academically, but also professionally. With the support of CEFI's material and content, I have been able to better implement high impact projects in financial inclusion. For example, developing the National Strategy for Financial Inclusion law (approved in Congress, see here: http://noticiaspositivas.org/opinion/inclusion-financiera/), contributing as a content specialist in the creation of the first Latin American platform for financial inclusion, FINCLUSION (see here: https://unik.education/revistas/finclusion-2/articulos/que-es-el-microcredito/?complete=undefined), or having written dozens of articles in the media on financial inclusion (see www.ignaciocarballo.com) In short, CEFI has been a great course of high academic standing and immense value in terms of impact. -------- WHAT I LIKED MOST: What I liked most about CEFI was the bibliographic material. Besides being interesting and enjoyable, what I liked the most was that it is very updated. The bibliiography, in some cases, was 2017 inclusive! That's a fact that doesn't happen very often. When we talk about financial inclusion this is a fundamental fact, because it is a field in constant evolution and change. Secondly, the on-line modality and the fact of having advice via e-mail or discussion forum has been something magnificent. Finally, the evaluation methodology seems to me to be very good, mixing different methods of assigment the student is forced to read and deepen in all the topics.
What could be improved: There's nothing in particular I didn't like about this course. But, if I had to make a constructive criticism, I would say that the new platform has not been very friendly to me. In fact, I ended up resorting to the old version every time I entered campus. P.S. But I must admit that it is wonderful that the old version of the Campus has been made available for cases like mine.

What I would highlight: I like the practical approach on the assignments, assignments call for the maximum use of modern day Technology IT skills in Excel. The demand for excel in this course allows one to be a more useful person in the organization when it comes to financial data modeling. Excel skills gained gives an opportunity to be more economical because the MSME may not be forced to hire a more complex system from the vendor and use excel as for the advantage of the organization more efficiently. one cant go without mentioning the excellent material on credit risk, unit 4., the material is totally above good and clearly outlined for a layman to understand and be efficient in the field of work. in a nutshell, this is super good for the individuals who want to succeed in their risk management career path and organization that look for the best risk management for success. Looking on the Financial risk management (Forex, Interest rate risk and liquidity risk management) units were cemented by the Comprehensive Asset Liability Management (CALM) tool. the CALM tool brings about efficiency in the world of risk management mainly in the financial sector, this made my life easier and felt that all organizations apply it to their organizations because its a one way solving all at once and too practical again. Finally, the Operations risk brought more insights on the way the operations of a financial institution can be run efficiently and it is well outlined for that covering all important departments of the organization.
What could be improved: Operations managent unit be beefed up to also encompass risk management for non financaial organisations because thats what the world also call for. Operation risk management is most needed in the other sectors of any economy for example production, engineering. If those sectors were encompassed, a risk manager from this course will be super good to other sectors again.

Master of Leadership in Development Finance - Online

What I would highlight: I found all the courses provided by Frankfurt School of Finance & Management extremely useful for the new line of development work that I had just got into. I moved from private sector financial services (insurance) to International development (UNCDF) in the area of Inclusive finance and hence wanted a basic orientation in microfinance. The course I took was just right for that and provided me with the appropriate level of knowledge required for a good understanding of microfinance. The online resources including audio/video, teaching material, notes, links to CGAP papers were all very useful not only from the point of view of the course but as a ready reckoner for some of my work related issues as well. The elective course on Mobile banking that I had taken was very much in line with the work that I am currently doing in the Solomon Islands. I would most certainly confirm that the CEMF course is right for any practicing microfinance Manager as well as those in the development area. The support from the FS team is also appreciable, given that they were there to provide guidance at every step. Otherwise for a working professional, it becomes difficult to manage time. My compliments to FS and the team!

What I would highlight: The Certified Expert in Climate & Renewable Energy Finance program is definitely the greatest online course experience i’ve had. The modules are designed around the essential that one could barely feel he is enrolled in an online course. For someone like me who is not familiar with e-learning i have to say that the CECRF Team has convinced me that online courses could be as easy as pie. Thanks to the training received i can now assess the financial viability of any RE project. I particularly loved the writing paper exercise although papers were not finally published. I came up with a sound writing paper on the « Financing Offshore Wind Energy: Risk Drivers and Investor Return-The case of Germany ». Anyone who really wants to test his full understanding of the issues related to RE Finance should undergo such an analytical exercice. The FS-team clearly understood that. Well experienced tutors and the variety of professionals contributed to my solid performance. I think Germans have proved again their reputation of being pragmatic people. I am proud to be a member of the first graduating class of the CECRF.

What I would highlight: I have been greatly impressed by participation in CEMF courses, results of which have much exceeded my expectations. Not with standing more than 15 years experience in microfinance and management, I have gained much new knowledge and practical skills that are highly valuable for me and my company. The course contents and topics are structured very effectively and in a way to give participants opportunity of using gained knowledge in their daily activities. CEMF covers all main aspects and areas of today’s microfinance activities and can be applied by experienced MFI managers as well as beginners. The virtual forum is also very effective in terms of peer experience sharing among participants.
