This course aims to enable you to communicate in French in everyday situations. It will strengthen your knowledge and introduce new structures and vocabulary gradually. You will build up your confidence in all four skills with the emphasis on speaking and listening.

About this course

- ask for a train ticket (or other transports)
- buy food and ask for the price
- order food in a restaurant
- talk in details about daily routine
- speak about your leisure activities
- make arrangement to meet someone

- use some irregular verbs confidently in the present tense
- use reflexive verbs confidently in the present tense in the JE/VOUS form
- use modal verbs confidently
- use Y confidently with the verb Aller
- use EN confidently when talking about food

Please note that the above outcomes are flexible as the pace of the lessons will depend on the achievements of the group of students.

Based on City Lit course material (handbook and online material). All the details will be given during the first lesson.

The course is based on the communicative approach:

- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate

Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.

Grammar: prepositions, articles: definite/indefinite/partitive, present tense (IR regular verbs and irregular verbs), reflexive verbs and modal verbs. Basic EN and Y pronouns.
