What is the French for Beginners course?
This course is suitable for those who have no prior knowledge of the language and is designed to give the absolute beginner confidence to start speaking French from the start. During the course you will learn vocabulary and structures that are needed for practical communication while visiting France or for business purposes. It will also be useful for those who entertain speakers of the French language here in the UK.

Teaching and Learning
The course will encourage you to speak the language from the very beginning. You will work in pairs or small groups to practise expressions and sentence patterns and develop practical comprehension skills through reading, listening to recordings, watching DVDs and using the Internet.

You will meet material in the form of everyday dialogues, interviews of native speakers and short written texts such as advertisements and tourist leaflets which provide a wealth of words and expressions. As they arise the grammatical structures necessary for effective communication will be explained and practised.

You will be expected to set aside at least one hour a week between classes for follow-up work.

Assessment details
There are no formal assessments. You will receive a College certificate on completion of the course.
