Level: This course is for those with some knowledge of the language.

What is the French Improvers course?
This course assumes you have some previous knowledge of french which may come from either completion of an adult education beginners level course, experience of learning the language at school or time spent in a country where the french language is spoken.

You will learn vocabulary and structures that are needed for practical communication while visiting France for either business or pleasure purposes.

Teaching and Learning
The course will encourage you to speak the language from the very beginning. You will work in pairs or small groups to practise expressions and sentence patterns and develop practical comprehension skills through reading, listening to recordings, watching DVDs and using the Internet and language laboratory.

You will meet material in the form of everyday dialogues, interviews of native speakers and in short written texts such as advertisements, tourist leaflets, magazines and newspapers, which provide a wealth of words and expressions. As they arise in context, the grammatical structures necessary for effective communication will be explained and practised.

You will be expected to set aside at least one hour a week between classes for follow-up work.

Assessment details
There are no formal assessments. You will receive a College certificate on completion of the course.
