During your degree in French Studies, we will equip you to become a highly employable linguist with the additional skills of analysis, argument, presentation, as well as first-hand experience of living abroad.
Having acquired foundation skills in your first year, you will go on to develop both your language skills, on our compulsory language modules in the second and final years, and your own particular interests beyond the language. Our modules cover culture, society, literature, politics, philosophy, film and history. You will spend a year abroad, normally in year 3, either as a language assistant, studying at one of our partner institutions (including the Sorbonne, or universities in Grenoble, Caen, Brussels or Martinique in the French Caribbean), or undertaking an approved work placement.
