To enable students to understand and respond appropriately to what they hear and read.
To give students the means to communicate in a variety of ways and for a range of purposes.
To develop the students' ability to organise their thoughts effectively in both speech and writing so that they can present an argument or express a point of view in a coherent, persuasive manner.
To help students build up confidence in all four skills with emphasis on speaking and listening.
Each module of this course will cover different topics and will contain a range of different tasks which will help you consolidate your knowledge of French (structures, vocabulary, and grammar points) and take your language to a more advanced level. Although the content for each course is at the same level (rusty GCE French), the topics and grammar points studied are different.
This course is ideal to prepare for A-level and Delf B2.

The course is based on the communicative approach:
- active students’ interaction
- emphasis on speaking and listening skills
- pair and group work
- role plays
- use of realia, pictures and authentic material
- use of audio-visual techniques when appropriate
Please note, students are expected to participate in oral classroom activities and to do some homework as and when required.

Course programme
The course is designed to help student develop their knowledge and understanding of some issues presented in a French-speaking context such as the role and influence of the media, use and misuse of the environment, and focuses upon the major contemporary issues in France and the French-speaking world.
The course offers revision and consolidation of major areas of grammar (tenses, relative pronouns,agreement of adjectives, negation, subject and object pronouns, prepositions, demonstratives, comparison, probability, purpose); presents and practices some important language functions (asking for agreement, stating a problem,etc); creates opportunities for students to collect, practise and use key items of vocabulary relating to each topic studied; concentrates, at the discourse level, on means which permit effective use of French in narration, argument, discussion or debate.
