About this course

You will need a minimum of four GCSEs at grade C or above, including Maths and English or equivalent Level 2 qualifications. However, enthusiasm for the course is also important. Mature students without these qualifications are also invited to apply.

Course Description:
This intensive, advanced course enables you to develop a broad, technical understanding of the accounting function within business and provides an excellent first step on the ladder to the many career opportunities in this area of work. Employers place a great deal of value on employees' abilities to communicate and use IT, and you will also have the
opportunity to develop these to the fullest during the year, so that you are fully prepared when you get a job. This is a challenging programme that requires students to complete both the Level 2 and the Level 3 AAT in one year.
Course Content:
This course covers:
· how to record income and expenditure
· make payments, prepare ledger and trial balances using both paper and computerised systems
· costing, financial accounting and working with VAT.
This course includes an element of work experience and you will also have the opportunity to develop your key work skills in the areas of Communication, Application of Number and IT.
Assessment:
Assessment is by a mixture of coursework, in-class testing and external examinations.
Next Steps:
There are lots of employment opportunities once you have successfully completed this course. If you want to gain further qualifications, you can study the AAT Technician Level 4 on a part-time basis. Employers often sponsor their staff to take this course.
