Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting
Apprentices learn on the job, building up knowledge and skills, gaining qualifications and earning money all at the same time.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
You will do work-based training with an employer. You are paid a wage or a training allowance. The apprenticeship will involve working towards a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ), Key Skills and a technical certificate as described
below:
WHAT ARE THE ENTRY REQUIREMENTS?
For the Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting you should have obtained an Apprenticeship at Level 2 in Accounting or have undertaken a A Level standard of education.
WHAT JOB WILL YOU DO?

Tasks include recording and accounting for cash and credit transactions and recording payroll transactions. Job titles may vary across sectors and organisations but are likely to include:

HOW LONG DOES YOUR APPRENTICESHIP TAKE TO COMPLETE?
The Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting is normally completed in one year.
WHAT OPPORTUNITIES ARE AVAILABLE AFTERWARDS?
With an Advanced Apprenticeship in Accounting, young people can progress to an NVQ Level 4 in Accounting. Generally this will involve a career choice of one of the sub sectors of accounting such as accounting practice, industry and commerce or public sector.
Further study and practical experience can lead to membership of one of the chartered accountancy bodies - ACCA, CIMA, CIPFA or ICAEW. There are also a range of accountancy and finance diplomas and degrees offered by higher education institutions.
