Is it right for me?
This course provides a starting point for candidates who wish to pursue a career in working with animals as the main qualification is the nationally recognised Level 1 Certificate in Land'based Studies. As well as supporting candidates wishing to work in this chosen area, it also allows progression on to other qualifications, such as a Work Based Learning Apprenticeship training programme or other Level 2 animal and horse care courses.

What qualifications will I need?
This qualification is ideally suited for those candidates who have a genuine interest and passion in the care and welfare of animals and horses. Candidates should have GCSEs grade F and above (or equivalent) in English and Maths, and/or have successfully completed the "Entry To Employment" training programme.

This is a full time course which is delivered 5 days a week at the College for 17 weeks

How will I be assessed?
A total of seven units in all are required to achieve the full award. Every unit is assessed through an assignment, which is made up of a number of tasks. These tasks are set by the NPTC, and marked internally by the Centre. In addition, the core units are assessed using a multiple choice test, which candidates take through the Global On'Line Test (GOLA) system. The specialist core unit is also tested through a separate multiple choice test via GOLA.
