This is a one-year course that prepares you for further education in Art and Design or employment in a related industry. BTEC First courses can be combined with GCSE subjects such as Mathematics or English, if appropriate. The course is equivalent to four GCSE grades A*-C.

You can progress onto either the BTEC National (you require a Merit or Distinction at BTEC First) or A levels. There are a range of careers available, including: advertising, fashion/textile design, interior design, illustration, product design, photography and digital imaging, marketing/PR and multimedia/web design.
