About this course
Normally students 16 - 19 years of age will require a minimum of 5 GCSEs at grades A* - C. Those wishing to study Art should have a grade C or above in a related subject and/or a portfolio of work. Entry for mature students without formal qualifications is at the discretion of the Faculty.

Course Content

Course Features
There is a strong emphasis on drawing and painting.
All written work is integrated into practical work.
A range of media and techniques are explored throughout the course.
Individual development is greatly encouraged.

Career Prospects and Progression
A Levels provide an excellent basis for progression to Higher level qualifications such as degrees or Higher National Diplomas. Art and Design can provide skills which can be used in a wide range of occupations including Architecture, Art Therapy, Animation, Multimedia, Surface Pattern, Jewellery, Sculpture, Ceramics, Stained Glass, 3D Design, Interior Design, Theatre Design, Project Design, Industrial Design, Fine Art, Gallery Work, Exhibition Organiser, Conservation, Restoration, Teaching.

The AS comprises of two coursework units each worth 30? plus a supervised timed task worth 40? of the grade. The A2 comprises of two course work units worth 30?supervised timed task worth 40?.
