About this course
To qualify for this course you must have gained a Level 1 Diploma or NVQ level 1 in Bricklaying. You must also demonstrate numeracy at level 1 and ideally IT at Level 1. Evidence of commitment to the course is essential!
You will need to sit a Basic Skills Assessment test and attend a tutor interview to gain entry onto this course.

WHAT'S IT ALL ABOUT?
This course is designed to equip you with the knowledge and practical skills required to work as a bricklayer in a modern construction environment.
The course is made up of generic and specialised units, four synoptic tests and an exam.
WHAT DO I NEED?
WHAT ARE MY COMMITMENTS?
The course requires a minimum of 15 hours per week study, plus any additional support workshop sessions identified. You will need to attend all of the timetabled classes and tutorial/support sessions. If your attendance falls below 85% you may not be able to complete your studies.
The timetable should be:
Wednesday 9.15am - 2.30pm
Thursday 9.15am - 4.30pm
Friday 9.15am - 4.30pm

Each element comprises practical work and knowledge. There are continuous practical assessments, synoptic tests and exams to help you gain your qualification throughout the academic year.
The college is commited to you studying for national qualifications in English within your vocational course. This will help you get the most out of your work, education and everyday life and is required for progression to Level 3.
Throughout your course you will attend tutorial sessions designed to support your learning and assist your progress. In addition there are activities to enrich your experience both in your chosen trade and in your student social life.
WHAT CAN I DO AFTERWARDS?
You may gain employment in the construction industry or progress on to the Level 3 Bricklaying Diploma course or NVQ level 3 in Bricklaying.
