The Level 3 DIPLOMA in Brickwork is designed to build on your previous experiences and skills and prepares you for the industry at a highly skilled level, it will also give you an insight into supervisory and management roles. The DIPLOMA has been specifically developed for delivery in a training environment using simulated conditions and the test(s) are based on you showing what you can do as an individual through the completion of all the requirement for the qualification. On completion of the programme you will have gained and developed the skills and confidence to carry out safe working practices in Brickwork working with complex situations. You should also have knowledge of quantities, interpret working drawings and setting out
What will I learn?
You will be expected to display your competencies, which involves the application of knowledge and skills in a significant range of complex varied work activities, performed in a variety of contexts. Some of the activities you encounter will be complex or non-routine and there is some individual responsibility and autonomy. Collaboration with others, perhaps through a work group or team, may often be a requirement. The contents of your programme are: Health & Safety. Using Advanced Information and Communicating Techniques including Calculations - Level 3. Advanced Knowledge of Building Methods & Technology - Level 3. Interpret Advanced Working Drawings to Set Out Masonry Structures - Level 3. Advanced Structural & Decorative Brickwork - Level 3. Repair & Maintain Masonry Structures - Level 3. Advanced Complex Masonry Structures - level 3. The Level 3 DIPLOMA, is designed with the emphasis on Advancved skills, enabling you to work and effectively operate at an Advanced level within the Industry.
How will I be assessed?
All the necessary knowledge will be covered for you to become skilled in Brickwork. You will be encouraged to assess your own work (practical) before the formal assessment takes place - this should help you to highlight your strengths and your areas for development. In some areas you may be asked to do peer assessments. Key Skills Assessments. External tests are on-line computer based examinations for all areas of assessment. Your progress shall be continually assessed with feedback
What can I do after the course?
Further college based programmes are available. A Construction related BTEC National Award / Certificate - leading to BTEC Higher National Certificate. These further programmes focus strongly on Construction and are quite broad based, which may lead appropriate people in various careers within the Industry. Site Management, Surveying, Self-Employed, Lecturing - thus leading to you increasing your potential earnings.
