PROGRAMME CONTENT/STRUCTURE
The BTEC First Diploma is a practical, work-related course. Students will learn by completing projects and assignments that are based on realistic workplace situations, activities and demands. The course is made up of six units, two core units which provide a general foundation and four specialist units, which introduce learners to particular topics in more depth. Students completing this course may be able to progress
onto AS level Science subjects or the BTEC National in Applied Science or other FE Level 3 qualifications at the College or other institutions or to go on to find employment in the area of Science.
In addition to studying some or all of the core Basic Skills of Literacy, Numeracy and IT the subjects covered will include:
Anatomy and Physiology;
Chemistry Applications;
Physical Science Applications;
Biological Systems;
Scientific Principles;
Science and the World of Work.
