This hands-on course is mainly software orientated and further builds on the skills learnt at GCSE. For a more hardware orientated course see the Award in ICT Systems & Principles.
What will I study?
Students will study a wide variety of computer applications, including presentation software, website design, spreadsheets and databases to present and handle information. They will also gain a basic understanding of how ICT systems are constructed and the function of the various types of hardware and software.
Assessment is portfolio based i.e. coursework, there are no examinations.
What next?
Many students will progress on to one of the higher level courses such as Applied AS Level in ICT, ITP for Award in ICT Systems & Principles, an NVQ course, or enter employment.
