NVQ Level 2 Communication Technologies for Practitioners

Who can take this qualification?

There are no entry requirements or age restrictions for these qualifications. It is open to any candidate who has the potential to meet the requirements for the qualifications.

If you are unemployed there is a programme which runs over two days per week for 13 weeks. These programmes run throughout the year and have been very successful in helping people get employment in the industry.
If you are employed you can be assessed at your work place doing your job while you study for this qualification.

How does this qualification improve my career prospects?

Candidates can progress into the Levels 3 and 4 NVQs for Communication Technology Professionals.

Candidates can also develop further in related sectors such as Contact Centres and IT because of the fundamental relationships built into the Standards and structures.

Candidates can progress to related qualifications which include:

  • Level 2 Communications Cabling (Fibre & Data)
  • CISCO courses
  • Level 3 BTEC Nationals in Communications Technology
  • Level 5 BTEC Higher Nationals in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (Communication).

What does it involve?

The learner will be assessed in their work place or at our training centre through naturally occurring work activity through observations and other assessment techniques.

The candidate needs to complete the required number of units, which are available at three levels. It is possible that you could mix units from different levels in any one qualification.

Each unit is assigned a value according to its level and size and to achieve a full NVQ candidates must achieve a minimum total of Unit Values.

Candidates must complete 100 Unit Values to achieve a Level 2 qualification

How long will it take?

This qualification usually takes between 3 to 6 months to complete. This will be agreed by you and your assessor, to meet your individual requirements.
