BTEC First Diploma for ICT Practitioners - Information Technology Level 2Duration
One Year full time

Attendance
You are expected to be available to attend college Monday to Thursday 9am to 5.30pm and Friday 9am to 4.30pm. Your timetable will be 16 hours per week and will be explained to you at interview.

Course Description
This one year course is designed to give you an introduction into business computing and help you build the skills needed to enter employment.

Course Structure
The course is delivered through a series of assignments that explore the practical skills and knowledge you will need to develop your career options, including website development, graphics and database software.

You will also study Key Skills which include Maths and English.

Course Assessment
Assessment takes place throughout the year with regular tutorials that help you progress your skills.

  • 4 GCSEs grades D and above including English
  • Computing Skills Level 1 at Merit

Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.

Course Enrichment
Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time of interview.

Course Progression
Students can progress to our level 3 diploma in IT.

Course Career Prospects
After further study there are many opportunities to enter the IT sector including technical and software sales, applications programme, systems analyst, computer trainer, network manager, computer operator.
