This programme is offered in partnership with the University of Greenwich. The Foundation Degree in Care Management is designed to equip professionals with the knowledge, skills and understanding required to promote excellence in management, administration and practice within the Care sector. It also addresses the CSCI (Commission for Social Care Inspection) requirement that all managers should hold an appropriate management qualification. This is a practical work-based programme providing a combination of College-based taught classes with ongoing work experience to promote professional competencies. It is therefore very suitable for practitioners who are working in the sector and considering progressing into Higher Education, but who wish to follow a route which is strongly focused on work based learning and reflective practice. The programme has been structured around management themes identified from the National Occupational Standards and subjects studied include: Level 1 Springboard for learning Introduction to Health & Social Care Policy Psychology & Sociology for Health & Social Care practice Development of Inter-Professional Working in Health & Social Care Level 2 Managing Business Resources in a Health and Social Care Setting Managing the Total Health and Social Care Resource Assessing Competence in the Workplace Work based learning project for care management Information and quality management

Applicants should be employed in a relevant work setting and should be able to demonstrate substantial work experience within the health or care sectors. Applicants should also hold a Level 3 qualification such as: - NVQ Level 3 /4 in Care -

Assessment:
Assessment is by a range of work related coursework, which may take the form of written reports, essays or case studies assessments. Professional practice is assessed within the workplace and through work-based projects. There is no external assessment for this programme, although all assignments will be both internally and externally verified.

Progression Routes:
On successful completion of this programme you may progress to a related degree, or professional programme, subject to the requirements of the relevant Higher Education institution or provider.

Career Options:
Successful students will be able to use the qualification to progress their career within Care management, and will be equipped with skills that can support career change into the public or private care sectors.
