What will I be learning?

This qualification is a first entry to a career as a Complementary Therapist.
You will learn Anatomy and Physiology, consultation techniques and the common effects and techniques of massage, aromatherapy and reflexology in order to provide basic treatments.

How will I learn?

To be a level 2 complementary therapist it is essential that you can demonstrate competence in dealing with clients, using information for planning basic treatments and providing such treatments safely and effectively. The Level 2 Diploma in Complementary Therapy will provide you with the skills to communicate with the client and plan and deliver basic complementary therapy treatments.

What else might I want to know?

You are required to buy a uniform and kits of equipment.

You will have the opportunity to take part in organised visits to the main trade exhibitions each year.

Pamper days are provided for several local groups including The Torbay Carer's Trust and Alzheimer's Society we have also made links with Rowcroft Hospice and deliver pamper days to carer's for their patients. These experiences give you the chance to work with different clients and are a useful preparation for employment.

Key skills are vital for the development a professional image and salon persona. Employers in surveys state that they require basic IT, communication and number skills in their workforce. You will study a key skill as part of this course.

What can I do afterwards?

Students successfully completing this Level 2 Certificate can progress to the level 3 Diploma.
