This 1-year course has been designed for those with no previous experience of electrical installation to provide a foundation for a career within the industry. You will benefit from a variety of activities designed to bring out the best of your potential and enable you to use your skills and knowledge to gain employment in the industry. The qualification recognises your job knowledge and tests the skills you have acquired. The course is effectively two courses in one, as you will be studying for the City & Guilds 2330 Level 2 and the NVQ 1, giving you the added advantage of finishing the course with two vocational qualifications. Alongside this course you will also study the Intermediate Welsh Baccalaureate, greatly enhancing your future opportunities.

What will I study?
You will study 4 units for the City & Guilds 2330 Level 2: Effective & Safe Working; Principles of Electro Technology; Health & Safety and Electrical Principles & Installation. There will also be 5 units of study for the NVQ 1: Working safely in an engineering environment; Working efficiently and effectively in engineering; Using and communicating technical information; Wiring electrical equipment and circuits; Assembling electrical wiring support systems. The course contains both theory and practical electrical installation workshop based lessons. You will also study the Key Skills at level 2 in Application of Number and Communication as well as ICT & the wider key skills at level 1. For the Intermediate Welsh Baccalaureate you will explore a wide range of areas including how Wales 'fits in' with Europe and the rest of the world, the health of the nation and how to be enterprising.

You will have practical and job knowledge unit tests as well as externally set online tests.

Successful completion of this programme will enable you to progress onto the City & Guilds 2330 Level 3 course, or seek employment in the electrical installations industry.
