· Course Overview: · This is a practical and theory based course which consists of the student/candidate working through a number of work related units following either a bench joinery or a site carpentry route. These are achieved through assessment by observation, questioning, practical phase test and external examination. There is a requirement to achieve the course related health and safety certificate.

Entry Requirements: · An introductory course suitable for beginners. School leavers should aim for at least 4 GCSEs at grades E-G. Applicants with no formal qualifications will be considered following an assessment. Applicants will be required to pass an aptitude entry test which is run by the college. Successful completion of the BTEC Introductory Certificate/Diploma in Construction or the Foundation Certificate in Building Craft Occupations will give exemption from this test.
