Early Years Level 3 Diploma
This newly-introduced, nationally recognised qualification will examine the different emergency situations that may be found in an early years setting, or by other professionals caring for children under eight years of age. It is also suitable for parents of children within this age group, for those seeking employment in the early years sector, and for those who are studying a full-time early years programme. The CACHE Diploma in Child Care and Education (previously known as NNEB) is now an accredited Level 3 qualification, carrying 360 UCAS points (equivalent to three A-levels at A grade). This has greatly enhanced the use of the Diploma for progression to Higher Education (HE). For those wishing to progress into nursing the Diploma now allows entry onto nurse training courses. It can also be used for entry to midwifery training, provided the candidate has GCSE grade C or above in English Language, and in Mathematics or a Science subject. Moving into teaching or social work is another option with the Diploma, combined with at least one years experience it qualifies candidates to undertake the two year full-time Diploma in Social Work. Social workers with a nursery nurse background are particularly suited to work in child protection and residential childrens units.
