Course Details
The process of this Programme has 3 stages: AWARD = (equivalent to I A level) CERTIFICATE = (equivalent to 2 A levels) DIPLOMA = (equivalent to 3 A levels) To complete the Award programme you need to complete a total of 360 guided learning hours over 2 terms (Autumn and Spring). On successful completion you will have the option to progress to the Certificate which involves a total of 720 guided learning hours and will roll over into your second year. Alternatively you may ?step off? at this point with the Award qualification. At the end of the first year of the programme learners will have the option to specialize: registering on to either a Diploma in Health Studies or a Diploma in Social Care. In order to achieve either Diploma, learners need to complete 1080 guided learning hours throughout 2 years. Alongside the core components of this programme you will be involved in a number of additional studies. For example: First Aid Training Manual Handling Deaf Awareness All learners will also undertake Key Skills in Communication, Numeracy and Information Technology, at the appropriate level.

21 hours at college and a minimum of 1 day per week at placement.

Work placement experience is an integral part of the course and requires you to complete 400 hours over the 2 year period in appropriate vocational settings. Progression:
Progression onto Higher Education courses at National Certificate/Diploma or Degree level. Further training, e.g. Occupational Therapy, Physiotherapy, Dietitian, Social Worker, Radiotherapy, Speech Therapy, Nursing and other similar professions. Employment in the Care sector.
