Level 3 : AS/A Level Health and Social Care (Single/Double Award) (AQA)

Who is the course for?
Suitable for vocationally oriented students wishing to pursue a career in any of the health or social care professions. The course is particularly relevant for those students planning to enter nursing, midwifery, medicine, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, or to jobs allied to these professions, as well as to those focussing on child studies, social work and speech therapy. A student will need an average GCSE score of at least 4.6 to be considered for entry on to either of these courses.

Content outline
AS single award students study three units: "Effective Caring", "Effective Communication" and "Health, Illness and Disease". AS double award students will additionally study units in "Child Development", "Needs Provision for Early Years Clients" and "Common Diseases and Disorders". Relevant work experience taken by students via the Enrichment programme is encouraged during the first year and is required as part of the course in the second year.
