Qualifications required:
Students who are under 19 at the start of the course will need at least 4 GCSEs at grade A-C (including English and maths). Alternative qualifications of an equivalent level will be considered. BTEC 1st Diploma qualification or CACHE Certificate in Childcare and Education will need a minimum merit overall to meet the entry requirements along with a GCSE English grade A-C (or key skills Communications Level 2). Mature students (those over 19) are not required to have any formal qualifications. However, due to the demanding nature of the course, the course tutor/interviewing tutor will be looking for evidence of the applicants ability to study at this level. An interest and enthusiasm for health and social care issues is also an essential entry requirement. Completing an enhanced CRB police check and receiving a clear/suitable report is necessary for all applicants. A satisfactory reference may also be required.

16 hours per week full-time and 6 hours placement.
Additional info:
Work placement is an essential component of the programme and 80% attendance at placement is mandatory for achievement. Assessment of placement practice will be carried out throughout the year.
