Course Description
The courses are suitable for students who are (or would like to be) employed in the electrical contracting industry.

Successful completion of this qualification will meet the underpinning knowledge requirements of the Electrical Contracting Industry (JIB) 1999 Apprenticeship Training Scheme.

Course Structure
  • The course is a two year course, offered on a full-time attendance pattern of 2 days per week.
  • To be awarded the 2330 certificate, candidates must be successful in 5 academic units and 4 practical assessments.
  • As part of the 2330 studies, students will undertake practical workshop classes which are taken throughout the two years.
  • You will also study Key Skills which include Maths and English.


Course Assessment
Students are assessed through practical assessments, online assessments and both practical and written exams.

Course Entry Requirements
  • 2 GCSE†s at grade D or above in Maths and English.
  • National Vocational Qualifications in Performing Engineering Operations Level 1

Course Costs
There are no course fees if you are under 19 years old on 31 August 2010. However, you may have to pay for textbooks, personal kits, uniforms, trips and personal stationery. You will be informed of these at your interview.

A £50 charge for course materials is applied to all full time engineering courses.

Course Enrichment
Activities such as trips and visits will be arranged, which are beneficial to this course and your learning. These activities are optional and additional fees will be charged to you. Details will be provided at the time of interview.

Course Progression
Successful candidates can progress onto the Level 3 Electrotechnical Certificate or work towards the achievement of an NVQ level 3 in Electrical Installation.

Course Career Prospects
