About this course

You will be required to undertake a short assessment of your numeracy and communication skills prior to interview and be expected to achieve Entry Level 3 in both assessments. Entry will be conditional on a successful interview.

Course Description:
If you are a school-leaver wishing to begin a career in Engineering, this course helps you develop the skills and knowledge to go on to further training. It offers experience in three key areas of engineering; mechanical, electrical and electronic work.
Course Content:
The Award is carried out in a modern engineering workshop and specialist classrooms. You will have the opportunity to make components, assemble simple electronic devices and practise maintenance on a range of systems. You will also have the opportunity to develop some of the personal skills to increase your employability in this field.
Assessment:
All units are assessed and graded, and you will be required to produce a portfolio.
Next Steps:
If you decide to make engineering your career and you are successful in obtaining the Award, you can progress to the next level, which is the NVQ 2 Performing Engineering
Operations. Alternatively you may wish to seek employment or apply for Apprenticeship opportunities.
