The National Diploma in Fashion & Clothing is made up of eighteen units. Five common units which everyone covers, and 13 specialist units that enable you to study particular areas in depth. Common units include: Drawing Development. Historical and Contextual Understanding. Materials, Techniques and Processes. Ideas and Concepts. Visual Communication. About this course
5 or more GCSE grade C or above. Applications are welcome also from candidates who demonstrate previous achievement or professional experience. Entry is by interview with a portfolio of art, design or craft work.

Is this course for you
This course provides students with the understanding and skills to pursue a career in a broad range of areas in the fashion and textiles industry. It focuses on developing student's creativity, originality and professional skills to a high level whilst working through the programme, guided by tutors and industry. You will be encouraged to look at the ethical issues including sustainability, environmental concerns, recycling and exploitation of labour and resources in the third world, which are currently at the forefront of the fashion industry.

You will be assessed through work produced from assignments based on fashion design & research.
What can you do after course
This course is equivalent to 3 A Levels allowing you to continue onto a university of your choice. For those who wish to go into employment, their fashion skills and personal portfolio of work should enable them to begin a career within the fashion industry.
Additional information
There will be opportunities to visit museums, galleries, fashion events and to undertake work experience within the fashion industry.
