Summary:

This is the ideal course if you want to work in health clubs and sports clubs alongside physiotherapists, or in private practice.

Course Length:
Two Years Full Time/Three to Four Years Part Time
Course Schedule:
Two days a week plus work-based learning for full time
Entry Requirements:

Normally at least one A Level in a science-based subject with four appropriate supporting GCSE passes (A-C), including at least one Science and Maths.
National Certificate, GNVQ Advanced, AVCE, or an accredited access certificate.

We welcome applications from mature (over 21) students who have relevant experience or alternative qualifications.

Core Skills:
You will study a mix of core and programme-specific modules - a total of 18. Core modules include Higher Learning Skills; The Individual in the Sports; Health and Education Sector; Work-based Learning 1 and 2; Advanced Higher Learning Skills. Specialist subjects include coaching skills, exercise physiology, biological sciences, nutrition.

Assessment:
Your work will be assessed through a mix of written assignments, both individually and as part of a group, learning diaries/logs, presentations, time-constrained exercises, both open and closed book, and conventional essays.

Academic Progression:
This programme provides a solid route for progression to an honours degree. FdA graduates may also progress to the BSc Sports Science (currently being validated) at UEA or to the BA (Hons) Professional Studies at UEA or Top Up Year in BA Hons Physical Education and BA Hons Sports Development at UEA, developed in partnership with City College.
