Course Description
The Diploma in Creative and Media is an exciting new qualification for young people in England aged 1419, who want to learn about some of the UKs most dynamic industries. The Diploma covers a rich range of disciplines including art, design, graphics, media, drama, dance and film. Students on the Diploma will gain knowledge, experience and skills enabling them to master processes common to a range of creative industries.
You will study four main areas of the creative process:
Creativity in context: things that can influence the creative process, such as society, culture, the environment or the work of other people
Thinking and working creatively: ways of exploring, experimenting with and developing ideas, skills and techniques
Principles, processes and practice: the skills, techniques and processes to turn your ideas into reality
Creative businesses and enterprise: an understanding of real situations and the skills that you need to succeed in the industry
As part of this qualification you will develop your study skills to:
Use your creative skills and ideas to make something
Learn how to work up ideas, alone and in a team
Learn about the work of other artists and how it relates to your own work
Explore different creative disciplines
Find out what you are passionate about, from music to drama, film to textiles, 3D visual art to advertising
See a project through from start to finish
Identify an audience and their needs and how this affects your work
Find out about the business side of a creative project, like budgeting, team working and marketing your ideas and products.
