Course Overview This course will provide the information needed for you to grow your own vegetables and salads Learners need to bring a pen and paper to the lessons

Qualification gained: This course does not lead to a formal qualification. If you are wanting to take this module as part of the City and Guilds Certificate in Gardening you need to enrol on course 99432C and register with City and Guilds

Course Content: This course is co-taught with the City and Guilds module - Growing your own vegetables and salads. Learners will be able to demonstrate knowledge of: 1. The principles of vegetable gardening 2. Site preparation, cultivation and management 3. Brassica crops 4. Root crops 5. Onions and related crops 6. Legumes 7. Early and salad potatoes

Work Experience: Learners do not have to be in relevant employment to enrol on this course

Course Assessment: Assessment will be through tutor observation and feedback. Some forms of informal assessment may be included in the lessons.

Progression: Learners may progress to the City and Guilds Certificate in Gardening modules

Homework: There is no formal homework but learners may wish to practise the techniques learnt at home

Additional Costs: There are no additional costs associated with this course
