Is the course for me?
You will develop and build on your basic skills assisting in hairdressing. You are encouraged to bring in your own models to complete assessments but are also taken into a level 2 lesson to work on clients; this will develop your knowledge and interpersonal skills. You will qualify to be an assistant to a hairdresser and will progress to Level 2 Hairdressing Diploma.

What will I learn?
The contents that will lead to you gaining your NVQ Level 1 certificate are: Shampooing; Conditioning; Health & Safety; Contribute to the development of effective relationships; Prepare for Hairdressing services; Reception and Assist with Removing Colour Services. The Academy has a policy that all students wear a uniform. You will also have to supply your own equipment. Order forms are available from The Academy. Price of the complete uniform is Approx £57.00 plus postage & packing. Price of the equipment is TBA. Price of Polo Shirt is Approx £15.00.

How will I be assessed?
Within the practical lessons you will plan your assessment with your tutor; you are then observed completing your assessment. The tutor will ask you some questions relating to the task and you will be given feedback. Theory assessments are completed by questioning, written & 2 tests; this is done through your theory lessons.
