Course Description
Through a balance of theoretical and practical assignments the course aims to develop an in-depth knowledge of music production and the skills necessary for a career within the music industry. The course is designed to develop skills in creative music produciton from both a musical and technological perspective, specialising in areas such as the recording studio, radio, composition for film and TV, ensemble performance and arranging techniques, theatre and dance.

How is the Qualification Achieved ?
Successful completion of all 16 units (eight units per year).
On Successful Completion of this Course
Students who are successful in this programme will obtain a nationally recognised qualification in an area that is currently acknowledged as being in great demand by employers. It is therefore a reasonable assumption that they will stand a good chance of obtaining a successful job on graduation. For those wishing to study further to obtain an honours degree, there are clear progression routes. The structure of the course will allow successful students to seek employment in a broad range of organisations, and to aspire to junior and middle management positions.

The Music Production HND will provide a springboard to many employment opportunities in the music industry as well as education, self-employment and general employment. Some students may go on to work in radio, film and television, or recording studios.

Successful completion of the course enables appropriate skills to be able to produce music creatively within a broad range of styles, using both contemporary equipment and techniques, and with a sound understanding of music itself.

Although the Music Production HND/C will be a valuable qualification in its own right, HNC students will have the opportunity to top up to HND and HND students to progress on to a related honours degree.
