The Course
Students complete projects and assignments that are mainly based on realistic workplace situations, activities and requirements.

Course Content
You will study units covering:

• Using ICT to present information
• Introduction to computer systems
• Website development
• Digital graphics
• Software applications development using databases and spreadsheets
• Software design and development
• Mobile communications technology
• Security of ICT systems

Assessment/Exams
This course is assessed via ongoing observations and assignments. Each unit has a number of assignments which you are expected to complete within a given timescale. Presentations may occasionally be used for assessing your learning. This qualification has no formal examinations.

Progression/Career Path
The qualification is equivalent to four GCSEs at grades A-C and so, on successful completion, you could enter the workplace at entry level in areas such as technical support, help desk, building PCs, computer sales or undertake an apprenticeship in ICT.
You can progress on to a Level 3 Computing course.
