It is a two-year Level 3 course that helps learners to develop a breadth and depth of knowledge at an advanced level. Hull College is the only establishment in the Hull area to be able to offer this qualification. This is a course for young people who have inquiring minds and a determination to succeed. Learners study six different options and choose subjects which match their career aims and personal interests. Three subjects will be studied at Higher Level (similar to A2) and three will be studied at Standard Level (similar to AS level). Advice and guidance will be provided to help determine which are the most appropriate Higher Level options for each learner. All learners study English, Maths and a foreign language (which may be studied at beginner's level.) Learners choose one from the each of the following option groups: History, Psychology, Business Physics, Chemistry, Biology Film A learner may choose an option from another group if they do not wish to study film. In addition, all learners study the Theory of Knowledge, a course designed to challenge existing views and explore different perspectives of the world. A 4000-word extended essay is also completed on a subject of the learner's choice. One of the unique features of the IB Diploma programme is that all learners take part in Creativity, Action and Service (CAS) activities.
