Course programme

Full Time Level 3/4 Fioundation Diploma in Art and Design

To provide students with the knowledge and experience required for the demands of a degree course or career in Art and Design.

Content

Practical skills are the basis for success in the art and design world. Student will be taught how to draw and use the media properly and they will spend a lot of time developing and practising their skills. The formulation of ideas and how to turn them into personal and original work is also covered.

Most time will be spent undertaking work such as drawing, painting and computer work although a regular programme of lectures studying the art and design work of others will run alongside this practical programme. With the support of tutors, students are expected to work independently to determine their own direction and use of time: this is excellent preparation for degree level study.

Degree courses prefer their applicants to have an art foundation diploma and doing the course is still the most popular route into art and design degree courses and careers. This section will explain why.

We will get you ready for your career in art and design by doing the following things:-

  • developing your practical skills and thinking to prepare you for degree level work
  • teaching you about the many specialist directions within art and design so that you can choose the right one
  • preparing you for degree applications and interviews
  • preparing you for degree level work

We have a lot of experience of doing these things and we have a very good track record.
