Mathematics (Double)
Why choose Mathematics (Double)?
Taking Double Mathematics means studying Mathematics A level and Further Mathematics A level together. It is a course for those with a strong interest in mathematics. Many take it because they enjoy maths for its own sake, whilst others who might want to study maths, physics or engineering at degree level find a stronger mathematical background helpful.
Key Features of Mathematics (Double) at Hills Road:
· Additional individual tuition in the lunchtime workshop
· Opportunities to use graphical calculators and computers to help you develop your mathematical understanding.
· Extra-curricular programme including trips, competitions and talks.
Course Outline - (Awarding body: AQA) AS Level Units
The course covers the same ground as our Single Maths course (and includes both statistics and mechanics) but takes ideas further, and there are also a number of interesting extra topics (complex numbers, for example). It can be extremely rewarding for the student who enjoys mathematics and is stimulated by the somewhat faster pace and greater depth, but if you do not get on with the course it is possible to change to Single Maths.
