Course Description:
Course Content:
The course covers both practical activities and the theory required for Certification; you will be required to carry out practical tasks on vehicles to a high standard. Theory will be delivered in the classroom and you will be expected to gain a good level of knowledge in vehicle servicing and repair. Health and safety will be a priority, with a focus on team-work, problem solving and communication.
Assessment:
Production of a portfolio, short tests and assessment of practical tasks in the workshop. Knowledge is assessed by on-line, multiple-choice tests.
Next Steps:
From Level 2 full-time, you can become an Apprentice and gain Level 3 by part-time study and employment in motor vehicle maintenance and repair.
Entry Requirements:
You will need four GCSEs at grade D or above, including maths and English as well as an interest in the motor trade or alternatively a pass at Level 1 VRQ. Your numeracy and literacy skills will also be assessed at interview and entry will depend on a successful interview. Mature candidates without these entry qualifications, but with trade experience will be considered. Numeracy and literacy levels will be assessed prior to interview. Those entering the course without the Level 1 VRQ will be expected to achieve both the VRQ 1 and 2 in the year. This is a demanding route and will require considerable commitment and hard work.
