Introduction
The aim of the course is to develop the specialized skills and knowledge required for your career in motor sport or to progress you to a higher level course such as a Higher National Diploma or Degree.

Description
The programme consists of a selection of mandatory units. These will include Mathematics for Engineering, Science/Principles, Engine Technology, Chassis Technology, Materials and Construction, Electronic Systems, Design Processes, Fuel Systems, Engine Management and Engine Design and Testing. The student group usually produce a race prepared vehicle as part of the first year of study. Key Skills in Communications, Application of Number and Information Technology form part of this course, as is an additionality in welding.

Two years

Method of Study
The programme has a strong practical emphasis with hands-on projects and assignments. Continuous assessment includes task-based assignments, projects and tests.

Progression
Successful completion of this course could lead you to further study such as Higher National Certificate/Diploma or a Degree course. Alternatively students can move into employment in motor sport or a related industry.
