Course Description
Neath Port Talbot College has one of the longest established and most successful courses in Music across South Wales. The syllabus covers the study of a range of musical styles, including musical theatre, jazz, rock and pop and the western classical tradition. In addition to receiving a WEEKLY performance coaching lesson, you will also receive one to one instrumental/vocal tuition on a weekly basis with a visiting specialist tutor in preparation for the practical performance element of the course.
You will submit two compositions, one free and one style composition, and youll have the opportunity to perform regularly, in and outside college, including prestigious venues such as the Millennium Centre. This could be part of the orchestra, choir or jazz ensemble at recitals, open evenings, live recordings and concerts.
At AS Level you will perform as a soloist and/or in an ensemble (Grade 5 standard or above), produce a composition portfolio of two pieces, study set works from the western classical tradition (orchestral music) and either Musical Theatre OR Jazz, Rock and Pop.
At A2 Level you will: Perform as a soloist and/or in an ensemble. Produce a composition portfolio of two style pieces. Study Music from the 20th and 21st Centuries and the set work: Ravel Piano Concerto in G minor.

Career Prospects
This qualification gives access to universities or specialist music colleges and can be useful in Theatre, Television, Media and Communication
