the recording, composition and manipulation of sound and music. Music Technology combines creativity and current
advances in computer music and digital recording to provide a comprehensive education and training for students with an interest in both.
This creative course will provide you with the skills to gain employment in the Music, Media and the Entertainment industry reflecting the needs for skilled practitioners in areas such as: music production, sound
engineering, multimedia, sound for film and video, radio, voice and theatre production.
Course content:
The course is taught with lectures and demonstrations and through practical work. Practical work concentrates on simple tasks done to high standards and covers a broad aspect of engineering skills including use of microphones, digital audio editing techniques, computer sequencing and includes continual and extensive ear training and assessment.

The Colleges music studios are stocked with state of the art equipment, this includes:
- 48-channel Audient mixing desk(previously used by U2 & Brian Eno)
- 2 x 36 channel Audent desks
- Focusrite and Joe Meek pre-amps and EQs
- Dbx Compressors and Gates
- Pro Tools H/D
- POD guitar & bass emulators
- Studios include Marshall, Fender and Trace Elliot guitar and bass amps, Neumann U187 and Shure
- SM57/ 58 microphones
- Macs running Logic Pro 8, Pro-Tools, Reason and Ableton.
Assessment: You are continually assessed through written and practical assignments. There is no final examination. You are required to pass all units to complete the course. There will be external assessment of a sample of work.
